Kildare is a mainly rural area just 25 miles west of Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. Monasterevin is the town in which the Hazel Hotel is situated. Scenic views of bridges across the river, and historic buildings abound.
County Kildare is convenient to Ireland's major access points of Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Rosslare, Shannon, Cork and Belfast.
Local attractions include the towns of Monasterevin and Leixlip, the Grand Canal, horse racing at the Curragh, motor racing at Naas, and many golf courses. You can visit the Japanese gardens, or places associated with the poet Gerald Manley Hopkins.
